History

District Jhansi has an adorable history of District Judges. In the initial period the District Judge was Sri H. J. Bell (1913-1923) and some of the District Judges here in Jhansi belonged to the then prestigious cadre of Indian Civil Services. First Indian I.C.S. Judge was Sri R. L. Srivastava during the period 1933-1934. Further, it is also relevant to mention that several District Judges were also elevated to Hon’ble High Court, Allahabad. It is also a matter of great pride for Jhansi Judgeship that Hon’ble Mr. Justice Jag Mohan Lal Sinha, who delivered the historic judgement of the Allahabad High Court in the matter of an election petition challenging the election of erstwhile Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi has also served as District Judge, Jhansi during the period of 10.11.1963 to 04.08.1965.
